What is TokenGuard?+
TokenGuard is a transparent proxy and dashboard that sits between your app and the OpenAI API. It enforces spend budgets, issues per-project API keys, logs every request, and gives you a real-time dashboard of where your AI cost goes.
Do I need to change my OpenAI payloads?+
No. The proxy accepts the exact same JSON payload format as the OpenAI API. You only change the base URL and swap your OpenAI key for a TokenGuard key. One line change in most setups.
Does TokenGuard store my OpenAI key?+
If you choose to store a per-project OpenAI key, it is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM before being written to the database. The raw key is never logged or returned by the API.
What happens when a budget limit is reached?+
TokenGuard returns HTTP 429 to your app. If you have configured a fallback model, it will route to that model instead of blocking. You can set both daily and monthly limits independently.
Can I use it for multiple SaaS apps?+
Yes. You can create one project per app, client, environment, or team. Each project gets its own key, budgets, and dashboard. The Pro plan supports 20 projects and Agency supports unlimited.
Does it support Stripe billing?+
Yes. TokenGuard ships with a full Stripe integration for Starter, Pro, and Agency plans. Checkout, upgrade, downgrade, and the customer portal are all built in and configurable with your own Stripe keys.
Is it production ready?+
TokenGuard is designed for production use. It uses bcrypt-hashed API keys, encrypted provider credentials, JWT auth, rate limiting, and proper error handling. A /dashboard/deployment page gives you a live health checklist before you go live.
